The Drug Store Hotel has stood in the heart of Fort Davis for over a century. It's been a gathering place for locals and visitors since before most of Texas had electricity.

We've added the comforts you need — on-demand hot water, new AC and heating, fast WiFi — while keeping what makes this place special. Original hardwood floors. Walls with stories. The kind of character you won't find at a chain hotel.

Through the Years

A century of stories

1913

The Drug Store opens

The Fort Davis Drug Store opens inside the Limpia Hotel, serving as the town's pharmacy. A doctor works on-site, and the store becomes the go-to spot for medicine, supplies, and local news.

1950

A new home

The Drug Store moves to its current location on State Street — the building you'll stay in today. A 22-foot soda fountain is installed, and the store becomes famous for ice cream, malts, and homemade fudge.

1980s

The hotel is born

A second floor is added to the building, creating six hotel rooms above the Drug Store. It becomes a full-service restaurant and hotel, while the vintage soda fountain stays intact downstairs.

2022

Renovated for today

New ownership brings fresh paint, new AC and heating throughout, updated bathrooms, and modern amenities — while preserving the original hardwood floors, character, and charm that make this place special.

We're on State Street, the main drag through town. Walk to restaurants, shops, and the courthouse. Fort Davis National Historic Site is a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive. McDonald Observatory is 30 minutes up the mountain.
